Copper is always changing.
Exposed to air, copper starts reacting, changing from a shiny finish to matt and eventually a green patina. As a commodity, the price is also in constant flux on the global metals market, and as one of the most malleable of metals, copper can be shaped and crafted into a wide variety of forms and applications
I wanted to create a design that reflected the inherent variables in the world of copper.
Each Copper Lamp is unique, but is composed of identical numbers of bends and lengths. Initially built as a symmetrical two-dimensional structure, every joint is then orientated at random to create an individual three dimensional piece.
The price today is £512.53, but might be different tomorrow as it is pegged to the global copper markets.
